Main stage
The highest-production stage at Universe. Main stage sessions feature industry leaders, GitHub customers doing cutting-edge work, and big ideas shaping the future of software development. These are the sessions that set the tone for the event.
Breakout session (40 minutes)
A focused presentation from one or two speakers sharing expertise, insights, and practical takeaways. Q&A and brief audience interaction are encouraged.
Workshop (90 minutes)
An immersive, interactive session focused entirely on practical learning. Facilitators guide attendees through targeted exercises step by step — no demo portion, just depth. Participants leave with skills they can put to work immediately. Note: workshops require an additional fee of $99, which you can add to your registration in the Attendee Portal.
Sandbox session (45 mins)
An interactive session that blends demo and workshop. Facilitators walk through how they solved a real challenge, then attendees work through a similar exercise on provided lab machines. Due to the interactive nature and popularity of this format, signups are limited to one sandbox session per person.
Ship & Tell (15 minutes)
Built something worth sharing? Ship & Tell is a short, builder-to-builder format for developers who want to show what they made, why it matters, and what they learned along the way.
Product demo (15 minutes)
A focused look at tips, tricks, and best practices for getting more out of a specific product.
Panel discussion (40 minutes)
A moderated conversation with a diverse group of experts on timely topics shaping the industry. Panels should surface a range of perspectives, challenge conventional thinking, and spark new ideas. Expect significant time for Q&A and audience engagement.
Fireside chat (40 minutes)
A one-on-one conversation between a moderator and a single speaker. Think panel discussion, but more intimate.
Discussions lounge
Peer-to-peer conversations powered by Braindate. Propose a topic or browse what others want to discuss, then connect 1:1 or in small groups of up to six. No slides, no stage — just focused conversation with people who care about the same things you do.
Session after party
Informal Q&A with main stage speakers, held in GitHub Central shortly after their session ends. A chance to go deeper, ask the questions you didn't get to, and connect directly with the people on stage.
